May Madness! What a month, and it’s not over yet!
- GDPR craziness
- Emails galore – opt in / opt out
- Harry and Meghan’s wedding
- Two bank holidays (not complaining)
- Selling and buying a house
I knew it was lurking waiting to be attacked in May, the rules and regulations for GDPR, deadline 25th May.
Once I got my head round it, it was all systems go, not just for me, but for my various clients too. It was interesting seeing the frenzy build up and the emails pinging through left right and centre.
I think we all dread and put off these changes that are mandatory, but I was really lucky to have been on a course where the Tutor put the whole thing into context. He broke it down into simple terms, enabling you to compare the rulings to your own processes and took the dread away at what really lay behind the new rules.
Simplicity is always key, and if you can look at something in simple terms, it’s a lot easier to understand the reasonings and to be able to implement what’s necessary. I’m also lucky to work with a lovely Marketing Guru (Claire Best Marketing) who I could meet up with for a sanity check, for want of a better term, when drowning in Privacy Policies and Opt-in emails.
Around the country, Royal Wedding fever was also building up for Harry and Meghan’s wedding last weekend. It was lovely to see British fever hit our streets in true support. On the day I went to St Albans with my husband squeezing in moving chores at the weekend (Farrow and Ball paint shopping), and I’ve never seen the market so empty, it was a joy! Everyone had secured their spots in the pub to watch the ceremony. We popped into our favourite little pub there (The Boot) in time to see them take their vows and the atmosphere was buzzing -flags and bunting displayed, parties sitting together dressed up for the occasion, everyone was cheering on. It took me back to days of the Jubilee and street parties, it was a real spirit lifter!
Just to top the month of madness off, in between all this we are in the process of selling and buying a house in order to follow our dream – never a smooth process, fingers are still crossed!
And now to end off the month we head to a Bank Holiday weekend, lets hope it’s a sunny one! A three day weekend to stop and enjoy time with your family and friends, the perfect end to a busy month of mayhem.
Happy Bank Holiday everyone, hope your May has been a fun, hectic and sunny one too!
